Yes. The Legal Explorer plan is free and lets you start using Counsel right away. Paid individual plans (Associate and Partner) unlock a larger monthly credit allowance for people who rely on it daily, and the Firm plan extends that to a whole team — each member gets their own credit allocation, plus an optional shared reserve the firm can top up. What do I need to use LawpalAI?

Just a modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge) and an internet connection. There's nothing to install. LawpalAI also works on mobile browsers, so you can pick up a conversation from your phone.

How do I reset my password?

Accepted Answer

On the sign-in page, click 'Forgot password', enter the email address on your account, and you'll receive a reset link. If you originally signed up with Google, use that provider's sign-in button instead — there's no separate LawpalAI password to reset. New passwords (whether at signup or reset) need at least 8 characters with a mix of uppercase, lowercase, a number, and a special character — this is required for every account, to keep it harder to guess or break into.

Start a new chat and simply describe what you need — a question to research, a document to draft, or a document to review. LawpalAI reads your intent and works within that context for the rest of the conversation, so you can ask follow-up questions naturally.

LawpalAI produces a structured first draft you can review, refine through further chat messages, and export. Use the upload option in the chat to attach a document, then ask what you'd like reviewed. LawpalAI accepts PDF and Word (.docx) files up to 20MB, and will walk through the document's clauses, flag risks, and answer specific questions about its content.

Yes. Every chat is saved automatically and appears in your task history in the sidebar, organized by when you last worked on it. Open any past conversation to continue exactly where you left off, including any drafts or research from that session.

Yes. Open the options menu next to any chat in your history to rename it or delete it. Deleting a chat removes it and its contents permanently, so export anything important first.

LawpalAI aims to produce drafts in the right format with the right language and citations. Even so, always review a draft carefully — and have a qualified lawyer check it — before filing or signing anything with real legal consequences. LawpalAI is a drafting aid, not a substitute for legal sign-off.

Is my data secure on LawpalAI?

Yes. Traffic to LawpalAI is encrypted in transit, passwords are never stored in plain text, and every page is served with modern browser security protections (including safeguards against clickjacking and cross-site scripting). Sign-in attempts are rate-limited and an account temporarily locks after repeated failed password attempts, so guessing your way in isn't practical. Access to your account data is restricted to what's needed to run the service, on enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure. How do I change my email address?

Go to your account settings and update your email from there. If you signed up with Google, your email is tied to that provider account.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, from your account settings. Deleting your account removes your personal data from our systems in line with our Privacy Policy; some records may be retained briefly where we're legally required to keep them.

Do you share my documents or chats with third parties?

No. Your documents and conversations are not sold or shared for marketing purposes. Data only passes to the infrastructure providers needed to run the service (such as our hosting and AI providers), under confidentiality obligations. See our Privacy Policy for the complete list.

Why was I temporarily locked out after entering my password wrong a few times?

After several failed password attempts in a row, LawpalAI temporarily locks the account for a short cooldown period before you can try again. This is a deliberate security measure to stop someone else from repeatedly guessing your password — it isn't an error, and the account unlocks on its own after the cooldown. If you can't remember your password, use 'Forgot password' on the sign-in page instead of continuing to guess.

Will I ever be asked to allow notifications, and is that safe to accept?

The first time you're signed in, LawpalAI may show a one-time prompt asking whether you'd like to receive push notifications (for things like support ticket replies or announcements) — you can accept or decline, and your choice is remembered. Declining doesn't limit anything else about your account; you can change your mind anytime from Notification settings in your profile.

What plans does LawpalAI offer?

Legal Explorer is free and lets you get started right away. Associate and Partner are paid monthly or annual individual plans with a larger monthly credit allowance, built for people using LawpalAI regularly. Firm is a self-serve team plan, priced per seat (2–50 seats, with seats 11+ discounted), where every member gets their own credit allocation and the firm can optionally top up a shared reserve for overflow. How does billing work?

Payments are processed securely through Paystack, and plans are billed in Naira (₦), monthly or annually. Annual billing is discounted compared to paying monthly. Behind the scenes, each credit reflects the real cost of the AI work behind a task rather than a fixed price per message — so a quick question uses fewer credits than a long, complex draft or research query.

Can I change or cancel my plan?

Yes, from your subscription page. You can upgrade to a higher plan at any time. Cancelling is immediate, not deferred to the end of your billing period — as soon as you confirm, you move to the free Legal Explorer plan and lose access to the paid plan's higher usage limits right away, so only cancel once you're sure. If you change your mind, you can subscribe again at any time.

What happens if a payment fails?

If a renewal payment doesn't go through, we'll let you know so you can update your payment details. Your account remains on record, but continued access to paid-plan features depends on a successful payment.

Do unused credits carry over to the next month?

Accepted Answer

A portion does. Up to 25% of a cycle's credit allowance can roll over into your next cycle, as long as you stay on a paid plan — it's a courtesy carry-forward of your existing allowance, not a separately purchased balance. Cancelling or letting your plan lapse to the free Legal Explorer tier forfeits any rollover, the same way it already forfeits the rest of that cycle's allowance.

What if I run out of credits before my plan renews?

If you're on a paid plan (Associate, Partner, or Firm), you can buy a one-time top-up of extra credits from your subscription page instead of waiting for the next cycle or upgrading permanently. Top-ups are priced a bit higher per credit than what's included in your plan — if you find yourself buying them often, upgrading to a bigger plan usually works out cheaper. Top-ups don't expire for 18 months and stay usable even if you later downgrade to the free plan. Top-ups aren't available on the free Legal Explorer plan — you'll need a paid plan first.

How do I create a firm or team account?

Anyone with a LawpalAI account can start one — there's no sales call or approval needed. Go to Settings, choose 'Create a Firm', pick a name, how many seats you need, and monthly or annual billing, then pay by card. You become the firm's admin immediately and can start inviting colleagues.

How does the Firm plan work, and who pays for what?

Firm is priced per seat — the same rate as the Associate plan for your first 10 seats, then 15% off for every seat beyond that. Each member gets their own personal credit allocation (sized like an Associate individual's), so one person's heavy usage never silently exhausts the whole team's access. The admin can also optionally buy a shared reserve that any member automatically draws from once their own allocation runs out, for overflow flexibility without having to upgrade everyone. The admin who created the firm manages billing.

How do I invite my team once the firm is created?

From Settings, under Team Management, use 'Invite User' to add colleagues by email and assign their role (admin, member, or viewer). Invited members get their own login while working under the shared firm.

What if we need more seats than we started with?

From Settings, under Team Management, use 'Add Seats' to buy additional seats at any time — your member limit increases as soon as payment goes through, with no need to recreate or migrate anything.

Can I leave a firm, or belong to more than one?

Accepted Answer

You can leave a firm at any time from your account settings, which returns you to your own personal workspace. You can also be re-added to a firm later, or join a different one — LawpalAI currently supports being an active member of one firm at a time (plus your personal workspace), so joining a new firm ends your membership in a previous one.

Is there an option for larger organizations with more specific needs?

Can I get a discount for referring another firm?

Yes. Any firm admin can find a shareable referral link in Settings. When a firm signs up and completes its first paid payment through your link, your firm gets a free extra seat, permanently — no extra steps needed on either side.

Chambers is LawpalAI's practice-management product — matters and case files, a docket for logging what happened at each hearing, a shared diary for court dates and deadlines, time and billing, and reports. It sits alongside Counsel (the AI assistant) under your LawpalAI account.

Do I need a law firm to use Chambers?

No. Chambers works for a solo practitioner too — the first time you open it, a personal workspace is set up for you automatically, scoped to just your own matters. If you later bring on colleagues, you can invite them the same way a firm would, and Chambers grows with you.

What is the Diary, and how does it prevent double-booking?

The Diary is a shared calendar for hearings, meetings, and deadlines, viewable by year, month, or agenda. Setting a matter's next hearing date automatically adds it to the Diary, and if the same lawyer already has something else on that day, Chambers flags the clash before you confirm.

How does billing work in Chambers?

Chambers is not a payment processor. You log time and generate an invoice inside Chambers, download it as a PDF, and send it to your client to pay however your practice already handles payments — bank transfer, cheque, or otherwise. Chambers tracks what's been billed and what's outstanding.

Can I generate reports on my matters?

Yes. Reports can be generated for a single matter or your whole practice, over a week, month, quarter, or year, as either an AI-written narrative summary or a plain data table — and downloaded as a PDF.

Uploaded documents are stored securely and used only to provide the analysis or drafting you asked for. They remain accessible in your account until you delete them, and you can remove any document or chat at any time. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

What's the difference between Support and Feedback?

Support is for when something isn't working, you're stuck, or you have a question about your account — it's a direct, private conversation between you and LawpalAI (AI chat first, email if needed). Feedback is public: it's a board where you and other users suggest new features, vote on ideas you'd like to see prioritized, and see what LawpalAI is planning or has already shipped. Find Feedback the same way as Support — under Resources in the top navigation, or in the chat help menu.

How do I suggest a new feature or see what others have suggested?

Status labels show whether an idea is under review, planned, in progress, or already shipped, so you can track what happens to it.

Will I be notified when I get a reply to a support ticket or feedback post?

Yes — you'll get an in-app notification (the bell icon in the header) and, if you've enabled them, a push notification for replies to your support tickets and for status updates on feedback you've posted or upvoted.
